'POSTR PIN'
The Michael O'Connor Poster Collection at Limerick City Gallery of Art is an incredible resource, but it’s currently inaccessible to the public without booking an appointment with a gallery adviser—and even then, fewer than 100 posters are available to view. This challenge inspired us to create the app gallery archive. It’s designed to transform the way users access, explore, and engage with the historical poster collections, addressing key challenges such as preservation, accessibility, and user engagement, while ensuring the collection is shared globally.
The platform provides global access to over 2,800 digitized posters, breaking geographical barriers while protecting delicate originals from physical damage. A scrollable world map enhances exploration, allowing users to discover posters based on geographical origins and learn more about their history through visual storytelling.
The app focuses on fostering deeper engagement through innovative features like gamification, which rewards users for interactions such as reviewing, saving, and exploring posters. These rewards unlock new features, such as personalized gallery enhancements and user level-ups, encouraging ongoing participation.
Community-driven functionality plays a central role, offering tools for users to comment, share thoughts, and create their own galleries. Interactive features like 'Postr Choice', collaborative debates, and curated expert articles deepen users' understanding of poster art and its history. The virtual gallery experience further enhances the platform, recreating the feel of a physical exhibition with digital displays, hypothetical QR-code integration, and direct poster interactions.
The app gallery archive is more than a digital collection—it is a living, evolving space that preserves cultural heritage, promotes artistic dialogue, and inspires a vibrant, global community of art enthusiasts.
